About iMapStudio
iMapStudio was born out of a desire to share a fresh view angle of the world—a viewpoint shaped by the unique lens of a geographer. The studio’s work bridges the gap between traditional geography and modern technology, using advanced mapping techniques and a touch of art.
It’s about more than just creating maps—it’s about offering a different way of sensing our natural and built environments. The cartographic designs aim to reveal geographic patterns in a stylish form that you can take home to elevate your living space and relive your memories.
Who am I?
The person behind this passion project is a Certified Geographer and an expert in geospatial technologies. A “the map guy” if you like. Although, it often gets more complicated than that when I explain what I do for work! I was born in the heart of Europe, Hungary, but I moved to the other side of the world, to New Zealand. New Zealand is a country with the most stunning variety of landscapes and lovely people which gives me plenty of aspirations to design maps. I feel fortunate that my professional life revolves around what I love—creating maps to solve real-world problems.
My enthusiasm for geography and cartographic design has been an ever-growing part of my life. As a child, I could spend hours scrolling through my atlas and exploring the world at my fingertips. I learned that understanding the environment and its complex systems is much easier from a bird’s eye point of view.
I have always been fascinated by how heavily we rely on correctly answering a very simple question: Where? I believe a map can provide more than just the answer, it creates a unique connection between us, our surroundings, the landscapes, and the elements. This simple concept has been guiding my journey towards using my skills to create spatial representations of the world that serve this purpose and are thought of as “more than just maps”.
There is always room for another map in my collection and there is always a new design idea that I need to work on!
